Deathblow #28 is an issue of the series Deathblow (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 1996.

Synopsis for "Fire from Heaven, Finale 3 of 3"

Deathblow is all that stands between Damocles and Dr. Tsung's family, since Sigma has been wrapped up in a cocoon designed to keep his power in check. He fights Damocles in vain, until Damocles uses his power to literally split Deathblow's body into many pieces. However, Deathblow's Gen-Factor kicks in and pulls him back together. Damocles is shocked that somebody survived his attack, as are the Sword and the Bounty Hunters who are looking on.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tsung releases Sigma from the cocoon and says Deathblow needs his help. Deathblow continues fighting and losing, but then Team 7 shows up along with Void and Union. Void attacks Damocles using her powers, and he notes that her powers are different from her gen-active allies, but it still won't be enough. Meanwhile, Team 7 attacks the Bounty Hunters while Union and The Sword move off to carry out their own battle. As the fight rages, Grifter and Lynch start to dematerialize due to their missing Gen-Factor. Dane puts everything he has into his remaining Gen-Factor and manages to stabilize them for a time.

Damocles defeats Void, leaving Sigma as the only one available to continue offering resistance. They fight, and Damocles is on the verge of winning when Battalion, Cannon, Warblade, Freefall, and Fairchild show up to join the fight. Grifter, Lynch, and Dane start to dematerialize again, and Dr. Tsung says teamwork may be the answer. When Sigma defeated the Gen-Omega clone, he absorbed all the Gen-Factor that had been stolen from Team 7. Now it's time to give it back to them. Team 7 and Sigma link hands to form a circle so that Sigma can transmit the Gen-Factor to each of them.

Damocles makes short work of the reinforcements, leaving Deathblow left to confront him. Suddenly, Deathblow feels the mojo (Gen-Factor) rushing through his body, and he feels very powerful. He attacks Damocles, who is surprised at Cray's newfound strength. As they fight, Qeelocke's eyes begin glowing and he opens up a dimensional portal behind Damocles. Sigma blasts Damocles, forcing him to the edge of the portal. Tsung says they just need to push Damocles through to defeat him, so Deathblow rushes up to push him. Deathblow can feel the combined strength of the other Team 7 members feeding into him, giving him strength to battle Damocles. As they struggle, Tsung tells Sigma to blast them through the portal. Sigma objects, but Deathblow insists that he do it because it's the only way to beat Damocles. Sigma complies, and as they fall into the rift, Damocles reveals that entering the portal will vaporize them. Then they fall through.

Deathblow finds himself in a place of blinding white light. He sees Gaby, who he thought was dead. He thinks that he has failed in the battle against Damocles, but Gaby tells him that he did fine. He then sees other old companions such as Hopper and Blackbird. Together, they lead him into the light.
