Flash Gordon #2 is an issue of the series Flash Gordon (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 1988.

Synopsis for the 1st Story

Before Flash could be burned alive in the pit, he was able to climb out before defeating Ming's guards with Dale's help. After his guards were defeated, Ming decided to fight Flash himself, but Aura stopped him and expressed that she wanted Flash for herself. Ming ignored her desire and used a switch that dropped Flash through a trapdoor. Then, against Dale's will, Ming claimed her as his. Flash found himself in a pool of cold water before Aura entered and freed him in exchange for "personal services." Aura also promised that Dale would live if Flash joined her.

Ming was attempting to brainwash Dale before he was informed that Flash was missing, leading them to believe he was dead. Aura left Flash in an apartment before having to attend a political function. Since her personal guards were posted in the hallway, Flash snuck out of a window before attacking a guard, stealing his uniform, and commandeering a flying vehicle. After leaving the city, Flash lost control and jumped out before the vehicle crashed.

Outside of the city, Flash encountered and fought a lion-like, humanoid creature before the latter revealed himself to be Prince Thun of the Paqua, who was sent to scout Ming's defenses. Back in the city, Aura visited Dale in a ceremonial room and revealed that she was sent there to be ceremoniously cleansed and that all of her father's forty-seven mates were executed after boring him. Flash, who was still disguised as one of Ming's guards, escorted Prince Thun, passing him off as a prisoner, into a building. They found Dale's clouds and realized that the ceremony had already begun, so they rushed to the ceremony hall and attacked Ming's forces. Ming escaped and Aura refused to let Flash leave.

After Ming tracked Flash and his allies in a tunnel, Aura's fiance Prince Barin offered to kill Flash. Aura held a weapon towards Flash, demanding that he come with her, moments before Dale was dragged into water. Flash dove to save her, but was attacked by a spear and trapped by cords, while Prince Thun was stabbed by a trident.
