Sarge and his partner Gunner were a team of soldiers that fought side-by-side during World War II, along with their dog Pooch. They would go on to become part of an elite military fighting unit named The Losers, alongside Captain Storm and Johnny Cloud, where they were active in the European theater. His tough and brash attitude made him a formidable opponent. Sarge was created by Robert Kanigher and Jerry Grandenetti, first appearing in All-American Men of War #67. (1959)
