Synopsis for "The Legion of the Lantern"

A princess from a nameless European nation is visiting the camp where Alan Scott and Doiby are headquartered. During a USO dance, she and Lt. Sowers dance over to an alcove that's actually a secret entrance to an underground headquarters for a cell of Nazi saboteurs. Sowers blames Alan Scott for knocking him out, but Doiby sneaks his friend his costume and the magic lantern in the stockade. As Green Lantern he saves the princess from being coerced into helping the Nazi war machine, then saves her prince from being kidnapped too. After being released with the discovery of Nazi foul play behind the princess's kidnapping, Alan finds he's been recruited into an elite small unit gathered by Doiby. However, their secret meeting's been discovered by enemy agents who open fire from all sides.

Alan fakes being hit so he has a chance to change outfits and route the attacking Nazis as Green Lantern. The chief agent proves to have documents containing secret information, but they're written in invisible ink that even GL's ring can't reveal. He and Doiby secretly free the agent, tail him to a cabin his people were using as a hideout, and mug him when he finds the solution that'll reveal the secret of the documents. The plans reveal that Nazis plan to stir up the "Moslem" tribes in norther Africa to destabilize the Allies' position in the region. To keep things from becoming "awkward" in such a fashion, the general orders Doiby to round up his handpicked unit, fly to Africa and stop this plan from being carried out. They're already too late, as the mysterious Black Prophet's succeeded in riling up the locals into aiding the Axis at the behest of "Sheik Hitler". The tribesmen shoot down the Americans' plane and rush to attack any survivors.

Alan Scott's the first one knocked out of the fighting. The rest of the unit's captured by the local tribe. They're unwilling to obey the Black Prophet's orders to kill the American soldiers, however, believing them to be honorable adversaries. To convince them of his power the prophet plans to have a minion masquerade as a djinn and back up his words. Alan Scott had survived the attack and after charging his ring flies off and interrupts the prophet's ceremony. The tribe demands the Black Prophet prove his righteousness through one-on-one combat with the miraculous stranger, but his sword is of course no match for the power ring. Green Lantern easily wins and unmasks the Black Prophet as Captain Kortz, the enemy of his last adventure. From a map Kortz was carrying Green Lantern reveals Hitler plans to absorb the tribe's territory into his own empire, convincing them to side against the Nazis. The hero changes back to Alan Scott, reunites with his unit, and they fly off the catch up with the escaped Kortz.

Kortz's plane is shot down by Green Lantern but he's picked up by a Nazi submarine. He calls together all Nazi vessels in the area to convene to overwhelm the hero with their firepower, while Doiby does the same for all Allied forces in the area. After a terrific battle Kortz is captured, but he and other Nazis escape when they're delivered back to the States. He tries to take command of a cell of 5th Column spies but is captured for good by Green Lantern and Doiby. All the members of the "Legion of the Lantern" get promotions for bravery in the face of danger, except Alan Scott who was doing most of the work for them as Green Lantern.
