Griff the Vulture is a member of the Bad News Birds. He is large and dimwitted and always carries his flightless teammate Waddles in his talons.

History

Griff and his partners in crime broke into Metropolis Natural History Museum to steal its gemstones, among them a red kryptonite. Before they could escape the museum, Superdog and Bat-Hound stopped them. Artie then ordered Waddles to get out with the gems while Griff and him would deal with the mutts. Griff was chased by Krypto, but Griff dodged him, causing Krypto to crash into a supporting pillar of the museum. Krypto used his heat vision to hit a fire sprinkler, wetting Griff. After Krypto lost his powers under the influence of red kryptonite, Griff got Waddles and fled the museum.

The Bad News Birds later broke into the Gotsac Mansion to steal Mrs. Gotsac's wealth. Artie heard Krypto, who had tangled himself in the Batrope and broken in through the window. While trying to free himself, Krypto accidentally activated the Bat-laser which reflected off a mirror and cut through the curtains, immobilizing the Bat-Hound, and allowing Griff to escape.

In the Metropolis Zoo, the Bad News Birds kept Bat-Hound trapped in a net over a deep pool of ice-cold water. A still-powerless Krypto appeared at the zoo, lying about having regained his powers, he used the Bat-laser as a substitute for his heat vision to knock Artie off his ice pillar and then drop ice stalactites onto Waddles and Griff. Krypto then used the Bat-laser to free Bat-Hound, unknowingly dropping him into the ice-cold pool, jumping into the water as soon as he discovered the risk that Bat-Hound was going through, but not finding him. Artie hypothesized that Bat-Hound had sunk to the bottom of the pool, being distracted enough with Krypto to not notice Bat-Hound throwing the Batrope, trapping him and his partners.
