Synopsis for "A Matter of Interpretation"
The Infinity Man places Big Bear in a vision of the distant past; when the war against Apokolips raged and before Izaya was truely Highfather. Izaya's leadership had been called into question, because he still had a conscience and would not exchange sons with Darkseid.
Disguised as Parademons, Izaya and a fellow New God went on a suicide mission into a Parademon nest on the surface of New Genesis. They were discovered, but still dropped their bomb at the cost one of the New God's lives. Izaya battled his way out, as the blast left another smoking crater on the surface of Genesis. It resembled Apokolips more and more every day.
At the Source Wall, Izaya raged at the Source Shard -- the last fragment of the first Wall where he speaks with the Source. He refused to exchange sons with Darkseid, as this was too high a cost to pay. In response, the Source gave him no choice: he would do what needed to be done.
The Source enveloped Izaya, and split him into two beings; Highfather, and the Infinity Man. The Infinity Man carried Izaya's conscience and guilt, freeing Highfather to rule. At the end of days they would be reunited, but for now, the Infinity Man resided within the Forever People. And they had dark days ahead.
