Malefic is the twin brother and arch-nemesis of Martian Manhunter. Having mind-raped his brother's wife M'yri'ah, he was stripped of his telepathy and other Martian abilities by the Council of Mars. Taking revenge on the society that shunned him, he wiped out the population of Mars in an extinction-level event known as H'ronmeer's Curse. Since then he has worked to finish this genocide by killing his brother, even taking his identity at times.
Malefic was created by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake, first appearing in Martian Manhunter (Volume 2) #0 (1998).
