Synopsis for Zoro, the Mystery Man: "The Horned Masks"

Zoro drives into the tiny town of Tinville in the Ozarks, only to find all the townspeople hiding in fear. He quickly learns just what: the Horned Masks, a group of murderous horsemen in the process of riding a man down for failing to pay tribute to them. For the moment, they're quickly seen off by Zoro and Cheeta. The locals explain the previous mayor was killed for trying to stand up to the Horned Masks, but his replacement is too cowed to do anything, even though Zoro reminds them he has the right to call the governor for help from the militia.

A local couple are kidnapped as a warning to Zoro, along with an effigy of the hero, dangling from a rope who of course is only determined to rescue them. The couple are about to be killed in ritual sacrifice when Zoro, backed by a group of rallied townspeople, interrupt them. After appearing to be invulnerable to bullets, Zoro grapples with the leader of the villains and spins him so he stabs himself in the heart with his own knife. Safe again, the couple asked Zoro how he was unharmed by the Horned Masks' attacks, and he replies he used the villains' own trick against them: that was actually a dummy of him dangling from a tree branch that they were shooting at.

    • Zoro kills one more evildoer, with his own ceremonial knife.
