Synopsis for Blue Tracer: "The U-1"

Hitler's greatest submarine, the U-1, has out-lived many sister ships and continues to ravage the northern sea lanes, by being fast enough to evade Allied planes and warships. The Blue Tracer can destroy it if it's caught in open ocean, but mostly it hides in an impregnable submarine base under the coast of France. They need a plan. British Intelligence arranges for Wild Bill Dunn and Boomerang Jones to meet up with their secret agent X-6, Baroness von Kist.

By night, Boomerang Jones parachutes into the Baroness' chateau in northern France. He lands in the forest outside the place, and she meets him there, and conveys him inside via a secret tunnel, and equips him with a disguise, as Adolf Hitler. She claims to have gotten rid of the real baroness, and to be agent X-6. When an elite guard barges in on them, X-6 grabs Jones up close and smooches him hard. The guard is literally mortally embarrassed, and shoots himself as soon as he steps out of the room. The Baroness and her date then get into a staff car and she orders the driver to proceed to the submarine pen, for an inspection visit. X-6 hands Jones a note, in German, for the captain of the U-1. Following these orders, the U-boat submerges and stations itself at the bottom of the English Channel, and awaits further orders. But from Hitler's own speedboat, Boomerang Jones has hooked a cable onto the sub's superstructure, and it has towed the launch along.

The following morning, the Blue Tracer zooms onto the scene, and drops a barrel onto the surface, which Jones attaches to the cable on the U-boat, marking the sub's location. Jones and von Kist race away in the speedboat, and the Blue Tracer plunges into the Channel and annihilates the U-1.

Synopsis for Phantom Clipper: "The Ghost Subs"

Lieutenant Robert Barrow gets court martialed and kicked out of the U.S.Navy, for drunkenness, and that night, after a very short bar fight, he gets kidnapped and shanghaied onto the Phantom Clipper, by Lieutenant "Tiger" Shark. The Phantom Clipper puts to sea, hunting a particular pack of U-boats in the North Atlantic.

Next morning, at sea, attracted by the sound of cannonfire, the Clipper encounters a sinking freighter and some lifeboats. The lifeboats are full of machinegun-riddled corpses. Lt. Barrow claims to know where the German Navy's secret sub base is. The two lieutenants dislike each other intensely, but Barrows sells his fantastic story to Shark and the Captain. According to Barrow, several supposedly-dead commanders of several supposedly-sunk submarines are actually still alive, and working from a secret base, in a reef-infested area of the world's northern waters. Only a small boat, or a submarine, could safely navigate this region. The Phantom Clipper carries a small boat, armed with torpedoes, and the two lieutenants use it to scout out the secret anchorage. They are spotted by a lookout, and Barrow dives overboard, swimming into the mooring area, where he finds, boards, and steals a German amphibious biplane bomber. Meanwhile Tiger Shark sinks two submarines then zigzags past the reef, from which vantage point he sees Barrows destroy at least one more sub by bombing them, and then (mortally wounded by antiaircraft fire) crash the bomber onto a final sub, destroying it as well. Shark changes his opinion of Barrows, and when he returns to Norfolk, he tells that to their superiors as well.
