Notes

- It's 1944, and helicopters are so new that it's still spelled "heliocopter" in this story.
- Blackhawk
- Andre was able to draw a recognizable likeness of "Truro" on a wall, with charcoal.
- Blackhawk personally hangs Skell, and breaks the Fourth Wall in the final panel to tell us so.
- Last issue for Al Stahl on Death Patrol, replaced next issue by series creator Jack Cole.
- Prior issue's cliffhanger was the entire D.P. getting swallowed by a giant mechanical fish. This issue opens with the team in the belly of a giant actual fish. Captions call it a whale, but it looks like a fish, until page 3, when it starts to look like a whale.
- Del Van Dyne is not visible in this episode, and has no lines.
- Jackie seemingly can swim underwater for a very long time, under 600 fathoms of water, and can see everything in his surroundings.
- Jackie breaks the Fourth Wall in the final panel, to remind the readers not to miss next month's issue of Military Comics.
- PT Boat
- Their squadron boss, who still has no name, addresses Perry as "Ensign Tobias," and calls Paul "Lieutenant Harvey."
- Perry gets in a fistfight with a Marine, while both are in their dress uniforms. Nothing ever seems to damage or dirty his all-white uniform.
- Paul catches a bullet wound, his first.
- Paul and Perry both are recommended for the Navy Cross award.
- Japanese military all look like normal men, but they all talk like Tonto.

- "This is an actual story based upon inside facts gathered from U.S.N. Information Bureaus."
- 1st Lt Wallace Leonard Dinn, Jr. was a real person but has no Wikipedia entry. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross. He was Missing In Action at the time this story went to press, and was never found.
- The Sniper now carries cartridges with his name etched on them.
