The Mist is a super-villain who was active during the Golden Age as the arch-nemesis to Starman. His power allows him to transform into a living gas, and parts of him can turn tangible at will. He has also been a member of the Injustice Society, and the Secret Society of Super-Villains. In an possible future, Kyle Knight became the next Mist as a member of the Justice Society of America.
Eventually, the original Mist died in battle against Ted Knight. His son Kyle became a serial killer, and his daughter Nash later became the second Mist and the arch-nemesis to Starman's successor Jack Knight. In his original incarnation, Mist's real name was just given as Kyle. Later incarnations of the character named him Kyle Nimbus, after his Arrowverse version.
The Mist was created by Gardner Fox, first appearing in Adventure Comics #67 (1941).
