Synopsis for "The Armageddon Trap! Part One"

Orion's outburst of anger takes him to Earth. Orion admits to Forager that now, after discovering the lie Highfather and the Council hid for many years, he no longer sees New Genesis as his home and will stop serving them. Forager makes him understand that no place is idealistically perfect as he expects, that the Council's actions were not malice, and that Highfather is trying to make amends. Their discussion is suddenly interrupted by Orion's Mother Box, alerting him of some danger in Nevada. Upon arrival, a soldier of the Bug People attacks them, but Orion kills him. Shortly, they find an insect colony built in the middle of a nuclear missile depot. This colony is conformed by traitors of the Bug Empire who opposed the peace treaty with New Genesis and deserted the empire. This colony, ruled by Mantis, seized control of the nuclear armament on Darkseid's orders to cause a nuclear holocaust and leave the planet uninhabitable for humans.

Meanwhile, in New York, Lightray continues his visit on Earth with Eve Donner, trying to understand the human concerns of his companion, who, in her frustration, says she wants the world to go away and take all its problems with it. They see images of the bug colony on television, and Lightray sets off to the location, along with Eve, who insisted on accompanying him.

Orion and Forager enter the facility and fight hordes of insects. Mantis decides to fight Orion by himself and commands the technicians to accelerate the firing operation. Mantis strikes Forager and throws her aside. Orion, believing she was dead, snaps in a rush of blind hate against him. Meanwhile, Lightray arrives and leaves Eve on a hill. The colony detects Lightray's arrival, and they fire the missiles. Lightray sees the rockets with desperation, while Eve enjoys the view of the end of the world.
