Business owners Arliss and Barren argue over company policy, and Arliss decides to solve the problem by planting a time bomb in Barren's house and making it look like a boiler explosion. Unfortunately for him, his timing coincides with a group of burglars sneaking into Barren's house themselves. They tie him to a pipe, unwittingly leaving Arliss to be a victim of his own machinations. Fortunately, this is Destiny's city and his supernatural senses warn him and transport him to the Barren house. After taking care of the thieves, Destiny hears Arliss screaming for help. Synopsis for Human Bomb: "The Mortgage Melodrama"

Roy Lincoln and his pal Hustace Throckmorton go for a day of respite out in the country and have a swim in a lake, only to find a man named Desmond styling himself as a mustache-twirling melodrama villain, trying to force a beautiful girl to marry him or he'll foreclose on her family's farm. The two quickly see him off, but learn a group of hoods are also trying to get ownership of the property. Roy realizes why when Hustace says he feels great, in fact he can't even feel his rheumatism. A chemical analysis reveals the lake contains elements that cure rheumatism, which is why everyone's so keen to own the land. He suits up as the Human Bomb and deals with both groups of malcontents.

Synopsis for Manhunter: "Blue Coats Don't Turn Back Bullets"

Gangster "Red" Tolan is arrested, but his little brother Tommy tried to help him escape the police. The judge remands Tommy into the care of Officer Richards, who agrees because the alternative is being sent to reform school. Tommy sneaks out and meets up with his brother's former criminal colleagues, announcing his intention to join up (not to the gang's pleasure, as they were the ones who ratted out Red). They give Tommy the task of finding out who Manhunter really is, since he and Officer Richards are known to be pals. Tommy shadows Dan, and watches him change to Manhunter before attacking the rest of the gang. He's caught from behind and put inside a crusher, and Tommy's devastated when faced with the truth that Red Tolan's own partners sold him out. Tommy helps Manhunter escape, and after the crooks are captured, he vows to grow up to join the police force, while keeping the secret of Manhunter's identity all to himself.
