Quote1 I am Roger Hart, descendant of a long line of master archers! Throughout the ages they won fame and fortune for their skill with the greatest weapon on Earth -- the BOW AND ARROW! Quote2
Roger Hart, the Bowman src

Calling himself "the Bowman," Roger Hart used high-tech archery in the theft of an experimental U.S. military rocket, and an M-bomb, and in 1958 he was shut down by the Blackhawks.

To prove a point about the superiority of archery over rocketry, in 1958, the Bowman used an advanced aircraft, and an array of technologically advanced gadgets, plus his prodigious skill at archery, to steal some experimental weapons from the U.S. military. To this day it is not known where or how he built his crossbow-shaped "Arrow-Plane," but the fact remains that he developed and deployed several unique weapons systems, unlike any used by the conventional military forces of his day. His plans were disrupted by the Blackhawks and Roger Hart was arrested.

Abilities

Transportation

  • Arrow-Plane: Hart operated an incredible aircraft, a crossbow-shaped interceptor-type warplane, capable of shooting a wide variety of large-scale, specialized, gadget-tipped "Super Arrows."

Weapons

  • The aircraft also packed an array of smaller-scale, defensive archery weapons, including "metal molting" arrows.

  • This version of the Bowman, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
  • In Blackhawk #128 this villain, Roger Hart, calls himself "the Bowman," flies a crossbow-shaped jet fighter. In Blackhawk #121, an earlier villain, John Hunter, calling himself "the Shaft," flew a crossbow-shaped jet fighter. These villains are not known to be related or affiliated in any way with each other.
