Synopsis for "Grounded"

Ambrose is being hunted by a hunter droid until he is exposed to the Big Bang on Paris Island. The hunter droid catches up with Ambrose and he taps into his newly acquired gift of siphoning electrical energy. Ambrose drains the power from the hunter droid and the droid crashes to the ground. Ambrose stands over the damaged droid and proclaims himself Prometheus because he has the means to steal fire from the gods.

Virgil plays a game of Dungeons and Dragons with his friends until he is called into the kitchen by his parents. Both of his parents are concerned about Virgil's slipping in his grades at school and his recent bee sting attack that got him sent to the hospital. Virgil's parents decide to ground him for a month until his school work improves. Virgil calls up his girlfriend Daisy Watkins and explains his situation. Daisy is tired of Virgil's constant excuses for not spending adequate time with her so she breaks up with him over the phone.

Virgil disobeys his parents and heads out for nightly patrol as Static. Static heads to Paris Island and notices the sight where Utopia Park was supposed to be built until the Big Bang. All of a sudden, Static comes under attack by sentinels composed of electricity. The sentinels guard Paris Island for Prometheus. Prometheus approaches and calls Static a stripling. Static can't help but wonder why the name and Ambrose reiterates that Prometheus will steal fire from man and wield lightning.

Static tries to defend himself by discharging a surge of power at Prometheus but Ambrose siphons off the discharge. Static then realizes that Prometheus has temporarily drained him dry of his power so he must make his escape on foot. Static is chased through a junkyard by Prometheus' sentinels. Static finds a metal rod and takes a few swings at the sentinels like a baseball bat. The metal rod acts as a conduit between the sentinels and Static. Static drains the sentinels until they vanish and Virgil is fully recharged.

Prometheus comes up from behind Static but Static makes a run for it. Static finds a subway grating and escapes through the abandoned tunnels. Static figures the subway system still has some power flowing especially the third rail. His plan is to overload Prometheus with so much power that he can't take anymore and will tap out. Static grabs the third rail and electric arcs of pulsating energy flow from Static and into Prometheus. The surge of power becomes so intoxicating for Prometheus that he doesn't realize that he is overloading. Prometheus explodes in a flash of light.

Virgil suspects that someone like Prometheus who is composed of energy can't be destroyed but they can be displaced. Virgil expects that Prometheus will rise again and next time Virgil will need a new trick. Virgil heads home and just as he was about to hop into bed, his mom busts into his room and demands to know where he has been.

Meanwhile at the Medina University, Dr. Kilgore examines Virgil's blood sample that he collected when Virgil was admitted to the hospital. Kilgore notices the anti-localization of rhodopsin in Virgil's cellular membrane and by reversing the polarity, he isolates the key components that he has been after.
