Synopsis for "Outsider"

As Kara Zor-El explores her newly adopted planet, she begins to appreciate its diversity. Even so, the more time she spends on Earth, the more she knows that it will never feel like home. Fortunately she has some new friends in Thomas and Siobhan Smythe - even though she can't speak their language.

After speeding around the planet for a while, Kara returns to Siobhan's apartment to find Thomas has just got out of the shower, and is wearing only his towel. Kara doesn't understand a word of his embarrassed blustering, and it isn't until Siobhan returns and translates for him that he gets the privacy he needs to get dressed. Kara is confused by their exchange, and Siobhan obliquely suggests that she plans to set her new friend and her elder brother up on a date.

Despite the fact that she cannot understand him, Thomas nervously rambles on to Kara on their date. She admits to herself that she likes the sound of his voice in any case, so the language barrier isn't a problem. As they sit down for dinner, she begins to realize that despite her lack of necessity for food and sleep, she comes to desire food at the smell of it. She yanks a slice of pizza away from a passing waitress, much to the girl's displeasure, and leaves Thomas to smooth things over.

Suddenly, Kara's senses begin to go out of her control, and she suffers from sensory overload. Thomas attempts to help her away from the restaurant, but a strange man grabs her away from him. The man reveals himself as the wearer of a special nanobot-swarm suit, and he uses Kara's current weakness against her. He intends to take her back to his employer, but Thomas attempts to fight back. Kara is knocked back, and takes the opportunity to put on her costume and return with fists swinging.

In the process of their fight, Kara's senses go on the fritz again, but this time, she opts to use them to her advantage. Her X-ray vision affords her the ability to pinpoint the location of the suit's power source within the wearer's brain. Focusing her heat-vision, she sends a short blast which destroys the power source. She worries that she has killed her opponent in the process, but a groan from him fills her with relief. Afterwards, she grabs Thomas, and flies back to Siobhan's apartment.

Despite Siobhan's enthusiasm, Kara explains that she can't stay with them, because someone is trying to capture her, and until that is taken care of, anyone she is friends with is in danger. Thomas and Siobhan say goodbye sadly, and Kara goes off in search of answers.
