Superman discovers he has merely been covered by a steel shell, breaks out of it, and continues his search for N.R.G.-X. N.R.G.-X in the meantime tracks down CURE and his friend Ray Ryker. In the final battle with Superman N.R.G.-X self-destructs in space. Grant Haskill is left comatose.
