Synopsis for "Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite, Part One"
Mxyzptlk in Krimson K
Perry and Alice White visit their son's grave, with Lex Luthor arriving just as they leave. When he's finally alone, he reflects on how Jerry would have been the heir to his empire if he forced his role as the biological father. Now, he has no heirs to receive his empire after the cancer caused by the Kryptonite Ring's radiation takes his life. Suddenly, a rock of Krimson Kryptonite drops on his head. This rock starts talking with him and reveals itself as Mister Mxyzptlk. Mxy offers him to team up and use the Krymson Kryptonite against Superman. With the imp gone and the Kryptonite back to its normal state, Lex takes the rock to his building.
Meanwhile, Clark finds Pete Ross in the Daily Planet. Clark asks him if he knows anything about Lana after she sold the farm and left Smallville, but Pete responds that she doesn't want Clark to know her whereabouts. Pete then asks Clark if it's okay for him to date Lana, and Clark responds that she's special and wishes them luck. While they speak, Lois receives a phone call and leaves the building. Clark tries to locate her with his super senses, but his attention is drawn to Barrage assaulting a store.
Superman arrives at the scene and stops the armored criminal, but as he takes Barrage to Stryker's Island Penitentiary, Lex Luthor uses the Krimson Kryptonite to shut Superman's powers off. The man of steel and the criminal fall into Metropolis River, and a police boat fishes Barrage out, but Lex uses the rock again to bring Superman to him. There, Lex takes advantage of the weakened state of Superman, and they fight hand-to-hand, but Lex beats the man of steel and then kicks him out of the building for everyone on the street to see the defeated hero.
Superman changes to his civilian clothes and enters his apartment, and Lois receives him. After Clark takes a shower and changes clothes, Lois tells him that her mother is dying at the hospital.

- Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite continues in Adventures of Superman #472.
- Mister Mxyzptlk's previous appearance was in Adventures of Superman #463. In that issue, he created the Krimson Ktyptonite and offered it to Luthor, but Lex ignored it, and Mxy left the rock on Earth.
