History
As the pit of damned souls, it is to Tartarus that the souls of the greatest criminals are sent, especially those who defy the Gods.
The most well-known passage there from the world of the living is through the Gates of Tartarus, which lies under Mount Tartarus[1] in the heart of Themyscira, although the gates are only revealed to those who have Amazon blood.[1]
The Pit of Tartarus was named after Tartarus, the first god of hell.[1]
