The Authority: The Lost Year #12 is an issue of the series The Authority: The Lost Year (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 2010.

Synopsis for "Damage Control"

It appears that The Authority have finally made it back to their original Earth. Tension between the team is high after dealing with this scenario for a full year. The members begin to question if it's possible for them to end up like some of the alternate versions they saw while on their voyage.

Even The Doctor is looking for answers at the Garden of Ancestral Memory as he asks the past Doctors why those other versions of The Authority exist. He is told that they are nothing more than the sum of their choices. The Doctor is not happy with this answer.

As Jack traverses New York City he is suddenly stopped as he realizes the city knows what he saw in the other realities and thinks Jack will hurt it like that too. Jack reassures the city that he would never hurt it.

Midnighter and Apollo are arguing about similar issues. Except, it's Apollo who realized that in all the alternate realities they went to (except one) he was always dead. Midnighter reassures him that he'll never turn on him and he'll certainly never let him die of anything but old age.

2 weeks later...

It's business as usual as The Authority traverse the globe dealing with threats. Jenny is frustrated that they must deal with the same problems over and over. This time it's another dictator. Jenny gets fed up with it all and opens a Door straight to the dictator's office. She ends up killing him.

In the end, the team returns to normal and realize that The Authority is still The Authority.
