The Avenger is a self-made millionaire who dedicates his life to hunting down criminals. Following a deep personal tragedy, he formed the organization Justice, Inc. to make the world a better place. Originally created as a pulp character, he was designed by Paul Ernst for an unrelated magazine in 1939. His first DC Comics appearance was in Dennis O'Neil's Justice, Inc. #1. (1975)
