Mister Freeze was a former enemy of Batman.
History
Victor Freeze, aka Mister Freeze, has kept his wife in cryo-stasis for decades, working on a cure for MacGregor's Syndrome for her, of which she was dying. He kept himself from ageing all this time (for 50 years) using a cryo-suit. At one point, he was contacted by Batman, aka Bruce Wayne, to help him save his dying butler Alfred. Fries worked with Bruce for some time, later using Barbara Gordon as his lab assistant. During one experiment, Fries tested a serum which was supposed to be able to bring people out of cryo-stasis, which accidentally resulted in his body returning to its biological age of eighty years old. Realising that the mice he had experimented on had died, and that they still couldn't cure MacGregor's syndrome, Freeze broke down in despair in front of the tank containing his comatose wife.[1]

Powers
- Unique Physiology: After being bathed in cryo-chemicals, Fries' biology was altered, causing his skin skin cells to capture and store the cold around him. This causes his body temperature to run at 23 degrees Fahrenheit.[2]
- Thermokinesis: Because of Fries' extremely low body temperature, anything his skin comes into contact with will freeze.[3]
- Decelerated Aging: The cryo-chemicals that he was bathed in were meant for cryo-stasis, thereby implying that he might not be aging or is aging at an extremely slowed rate.
