Synopsis for "Fire from Heaven, Chapter 13 of 14"
Mr. Majestic is reflecting on the current chaos in the world and within the WildCATs as he watches various news reports covering the ongoing gang war, the crisis on the moon, and the Gamorran situation. Then he sees Kaizen Gamorra on the screen, and he recognizes the face as a man he already killed.
Meanwhile, Savant's WildCATs team is in the streets trying to keep the gang war under control. Savant complains about the ineptitude of the Stormwatch rookies and also the fact that Majestic and Condition Red are not there to help them out. Tao reassures her that everything is going well, very well indeed.
On Gamorra, the heroes finish off the droids who ambushed them. However, one droid gets off a final blast and hits Spartan. The blast triggers memories buried deep within his systems. He is confused and isn't sure which of three names is his: Spartan, Hadrian the Eighth, or Lord Yon Kohl. He sees an image of him with another team. Emp is there, but going by the name Saul Baxter. Henry Bendix is there, but with the name Think Tank rather than his Stormwatch title, Weatherman One. He realizes he is reliving somebody else's memories. Then he remembers how Majestros--Mr. Majestic--killed him, because he had asked Majestic to. Then Spartan blacks out.
In downtown Gamorra City, Cybernary and her rebels infiltrate the office building housing the cabinet of Kaizen Gamorra. Kaizen deploys the Harpies, flying soldiers with jetpacks, to stop her. They battle until they hear a load roar. They look up and see an enormous tidal wave about to hit the city. They run for high ground but it seems hopeless, until Backlash appears and pulls Cybernary from the water.
Elsewhere, we learn the other heroes were saved from the tidal wave by Void's teleportation power. Freefall says the wave looked a lot bigger and it seemed like something kept it from hitting with full force. Mr. Majestic arrives and says that he is responsible, using pressurized air and his thermo-vision to reduce the wave's effectiveness. Then Kaizen Gamorra and Rodox appear. Grifter argues that Kaizen is already done for and they should head to the moon to stop Damocles, but Spartan insists that Kaizen must be overthrown first. Kaizen refers to Spartan as John Colt, and Spartan is confused. Kaizen explains that Spartan used to be a Kherubim Lord named Yon Kohl, model for the Spartan Guards, who later took the name John Colt and became an adventurer in the 1930s and America's first superhero. Something went wrong (explained in Team One: WildCATs #2) and Majestic killed him, but not before Emp transferred John Colt's personality into an android body. Or at least part of his personality. Kaizen reveals that he is the real John Colt--what was left of the body after part of the personality was extracted to create Spartan. He was left for dead, but he survived. He says he vanquished the real Kaizen Gamorra and took his place.
Kaizen and Spartan fight, and Kaizen says Spartan has no hope because Kaizen is Spartan's equal, except without such weaknesses as compassion and mercy. Kaizen blasts Spartan in the face and is about to finish him off when Mr. Majestic arrives. He says that it is time to complete what he started earlier, and he blasts Kaizen/John Colt into ash.
Later, the group discovers that even though Kaizen Gamorra has been dealt with, the fight is far from over since the Damocles threat dwarfs the Gamorran situation. Void says they have no choice but to put on the deep vacuum suits they commandeered from StormForce and head to the moon, but she is worried because everyone is tired and morale is low. But then Spartan/John Colt gives a rousing speech and everyone is pumped up to head to the moon.
