Asmodeus is a demon lord from Hell. He was a behind-the-scenes enemy to Captain Marvel during the first years of the hero and granted powers to Sabbac. Asmodeus was adapted from the mythological demon of the same name, by Otto Binder, first appearing in Captain Marvel, Jr. #4 (1943).
Several characters are also inspired by Asmodeus, such as; Asmodon, Asmodel, Azmodus, Azhmodeus, and Asmoday.
