You’re done as a cop. You’re quitting first thing in the morning. End of the day tomorrow, if I see you haven't turned in your papers... I'll find you. And I'll burn all the meat off your bones from the feet up.

Synopsis for "Joyride"
Jason Rusch is asleep and suffering from bizarre dreams of the original Firestorm. His dream takes place from the other Firestorm's point-of-view and he re-experiences the hero's death at the hands of the Shadow Thief. Jason wakes up and heads downstairs. He gets into another argument with his father and leaves the house. As Jason walks out the door, Alvin Rusch looks at a letter from Mortgage Equitable.
Jason later meets up with his best friend, Mick Wong. Mick wants to know why Jason has been so secretive lately. Jason is reluctant to tell him, but ultimately he merges with Mick to form Firestorm.
Mick now understands why Jason has been so aloof lately. Jason decides to show off a little bit and flies down to a penthouse apartment to flirt with some models. He later takes a more serious turn and visits the home of a police officer that once abused the two boys two years ago.
Afterwards, Mick asks Jason to fly up to the JLA Watchtower. He flies to the moon and is surprised to find that the Watchtower security systems allow him access. He meets Batman and Martian Manhunter who inform him that his predecessor died recently in battle. The Manhunter theorizes that a portion of Ronnie Raymond's essence may have imprinted itself upon Jason. Batman warns Firestorm to stay out of trouble. After speaking at length, Firestorm leaves the Watchtower. Martian Manhunter places a psychic tracer on him so the JLA can secretly monitor his activity.
When Firestorm returns to Earth, he separates into Jason Rusch and Mick Wong. Mick is disoriented and has no memory of his experience as Firestorm. Jason tells him that he had too much to drink.
