Quote1 We fight, like families do... but I love them all. No matter the mistakes they've made. And you're right... I've hurt them too many times already. I'm done with that. Never again. Quote2
Barry Allensrc

The Flash Family is an informal group centered around the legacy of The Flash, a famous speedster and hero who protects Central City and Keystone City. Nine people have taken up the mantle of the Flash: Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West, Ivana Molotova, Eobard Thawne, Jesse Chambers, Bart Allen, Avery Ho and Hunter Zolomon.

History

In the 1940s, college student Jay Garrick acquired his super-speed abilities in a random lab accident and became the first DC Super Hero to go by the name the Flash. Avery Ho is a Chinese American woman, who, while living in Central City, is caught in the same Speed Force Storm that created Godspeed. This results in Avery gaining a connection to the Speed Force and superspeed powers. Bart Allen, also known as Impulse, is the grandson of Barry Allen from the future and a speedster superhero. He was trapped in the Speed Force and forgotten by all until the Force Barrier was broken by Barry and Wally West, which finally allowed him to escape. esse Chambers was born in Queens, New York to the golden age superheroes Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle. Her father taught Jesse the formula that let him draw energy from the Speed Force, hoping that she would become a super-hero. However, she devoted her life instead to studying superheroes of the past. She was part of a Soviet program to create a serum that replicated the Flash's super speed. The government-sponsored program tested the serum on three subjects who became the speedster team known as Blue Trinity.

An only child when his parents died in an accident, Thawne grew up obsessed with the Flash. After finding a time capsule with the speedster's costume, he uses traces of the Speed Force in it to turn himself into a version of the Flash. The nephew of Iris West, he first appeared in Flash #110 (1959), which depicted his transformation into Kid Flash. Under the mantle of Kid Flash, Wally was depicted as a teenage sidekick to his uncle-by-marriage, Barry Allen, and a founding member of the Teen Titans. For those who don't know, Barry Allen's origin is that he was struck by a bolt of lightning that connected him with a mysterious source of power he dubbed the "Speed Force.” Originally created by Harry Lampert and Gardner Fox in Flash Comics #1 in 1940, “The Flash” wasn't Barry Allen when he first appeared.
