Synopsis for "The Tank of Doom"
On their way to meet up with the rest of the squadron, Jeb is having a heart-to-heart talk with the ghost of his ancestor, General J.E.B. Stuart. Jeb is proud of his tank, but the General reminds him that wars are won with men, not steel. Then the General vanishes just as it begins to snow. As Jeb retreats back into the tank to avoid the cold, the radio comes alive to inform them that the Germans have begun an attack on the Infantry's position in sector V-8. Jeb orders the Haunted Tank to turn and head towards the battle.
Arriving at sector V-8, Jeb and the others find only the remains of the battle, the Germans having moved on. The bodies of the dead American soldiers still lie alongside their weapons and ammo in the snow. They do however find tank tracks from a German Tiger printed in the snow. HQ radios them again, instructing them to hold sector V-8 at all costs until replacements can be brought in. As the Haunted Tank takes up a defensive position, they are attacked from above by a German buzzard plane. The shots ring through the little tank, deafening Jeb and the others and damaging the tank enough to fix them into their position.
With the Haunted Tank out of commission, Jeb orders the others to dismount and grab whatever weapons they can find from the dead. If they can't be artillery, then they'll stand their ground as infantrymen. Slim and Rick find a stash of tank grenades, while Arch takes his position behind a machine gun. Jeb looks around, finding a bazooka and rockets still being grasped by its previous owners dead body. Just as the snow becomes so think they can barely see, the German Tiger tank emerges from the haze! Jeb fires, but is hit in the helmet by ricochet and knocked back out of the way. Arch opens fire with the machine gun, but the Tiger ignores him and continues on. Same with Slim and Rick, who jump out and toss their grenades. They explode, but have no affect. Jeb realizes that the Tiger has its sights on the Haunted Tank, not knowing that it's been taken out of commission. But just as the Tiger moves up for the kill, it suddenly explodes! They had thought their attack was futile, but instead their constant bombardment ignited the Tiger's ammo magazine. As the others pick themselves up from the snowy ground, General J.E.B. Stuart appears before Jeb to ask him if he still believes that his steel will win him the war. Jeb smiles, having changed his mind.
