Gambol appears in The Dark Knight as a powerful mob leader. He forms a brief alliance with Salvatore Maroni and the Chechen to fight Batman and Harvey Dent. The Joker comes after robbing one of the mob's banks, and Gambol orders one of his men to kill the Joker, but the enforcer is murdered. The Joker proposes an offer for the mob to kill Batman for half of their money, but Gambol refuses and puts a bounty on him.
Two of Joker's goons bring the "dead" Joker to Gambol, but Joker is secretly still alive, and puts a knife to Gambol. He tells Gambol how he got his scars, and then slices through his mouth, killing him.
