Gangbuster is a super-hero and vigilante in the Suicide Slum area of Metropolis, making him an ally to Superman. In his civilian identity he is a teacher, although his expertise in boxing and martial arts allows him to tackle gang violence. He began wearing a costume to fight crime so he could protect his students. His identity has also been used by a brainwashed Superman, and a criminal impostor named Ishmael working for Tobias Whale. Gangbuster was created by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway, first appearing in Adventures of Superman #428. (1987)
