Synopsis for "Edge of Destruction"
With the alien armada hovering over the Earth, Superman and the other heroes teleport back on the planet to support the people as good as possible with their powers not working normally.
On New Genesis, Highfather and the New Gods are visited by Arzaz - one of the first gods. He talks about finally taking action before what he calls the fourth world gets swept away to make room for a new fifth world.
On Earth, people begin to feel very depressed which also leads to riots on the streets. Donna Troy, Hippolyta and Artemis deal with such riots in Gateway City, while Robin, Huntress and Catwoman do their work in Gotham City. At the same time Superboy reunites with the Ravers, but suddenly all of them are teleported to an unknown location.
In the White House, the president of the USA and the JLA decide to send a hero delegation led by Superman to negotiate with the aliens. While Darkseid has not shown up himself yet, his associates have started attacks all around the globe - facing several heroes, e.g. the Teen Titans.
A little later, JLA members and Supergirl approach the alien spaceships. Martian Manhunter phases into the mothership and discovers it being commandeered by members of the Darkstars. They have tracked a danger all way back to Earth and are willing to terminate the whole solar system to end it. The sudden appearance of Highfather puts an ending to the hostilities between the different factions. Highfather explains that a long time ago a world exploded, sending what he calls a Godwave through the universe. This wave created all the gods that exist. Weaker effects of the wave led to the creation of "lesser" beings such as demigods and super-powered people. According to Highfather, the Godwave is the source behind the Speed Force and the power of the Green Lanterns as well. The Godwave is currently flowing back towards its point of origin which causes the power instabilities of the superheroes. When the wave has made its return, the shockwave will create a new universe and, apparently, Darkseid looks to use that power to elevate himself. Highfather plans to stop this by equipping a group of heroes with adapted mother boxes and sending them into the Source itself ...
