Genetech was a genetic research firm located in Syracuse, New York. Among the scientists who worked there were Dr. Jerry McGee and Dr. Conrad Bortz.
One of the research areas Genetech participated in was the development of super athletes, which involved the use of steroids. Dr. McGee became a subject of his own experiments in this field when he became the super-villain Speed Demon.

- In Flash #5, Jerry actually goes to "Volton Labs" to inject himself with steroids. It isn't until #6 that the name "Genetech" is used.
