Personal History

George Pérez was recognized as one of the greatest and most influential comics artists of all time. His most acclaimed work for DC Comics includes New Teen Titans (Volume 1) and the continuity-defining maxiseries Crisis on Infinite Earths (Volume 1) (both with writer Marv Wolfman) and the Post-Crisis reboot series Wonder Woman (Volume 2).

He was hailed for revitalizing Wonder Woman to the point where Patty Jenkins, director of the successful 2017 Wonder Woman feature film, considers his work on the character on par with the character's original creator, William Moulton Marston.

On January 18, 2019, Pérez announced his retirement.[1] In December, 2021, Pérez announced that he had been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer with a prognosis of six to twelve months to live. Pérez passed away on May 6, 2022 at home with his wife and family by his side.[2]
