The National History Museum was one of the largest museums in Gotham City.

History

The first manager of the museum was a man called Dr. Rex Lamarr. On certain occasion, a group of criminals broke inside the museum from the park located behind the place. The criminals planned to steal some ancient relics, but Batman and Robin located and captured them with help from an employee of the museum.[1]

The Museum was next the target of the criminal known as Firefly, who wanted to steal the valuable silver relics from the Mexican Room. Firefly was confronted and captured by Batman, Robin, and Batwoman.[2]

One of the most notorious criminal cases in the museum's history was the stealing attempt by the Blackout Gang, who were stopped by the combined forces of the local vigilante, Batman and the museum's zoologist, Robert Langstrom, who was transformed into Man-Bat.[3]

The Museum became the target of the criminal known as the Dodo Man. He entered the museum during visiting hours and hid in one of the exhibits until the place was closed in order to steal a stuffed dodo from the Hall of Exotic Birds. Dodo Man was stopped by Batman, who had a previous encounter with another criminal at the museum the night before.[4]

When Robert Langstrom resumed his old job at the museum, he expanded an exclusive area for Bats in the basement. This place became the battleground during one of Man-Bat's relapses, when Batman confronted him to revert the transformation.[5]
