The Gray Ghost is a name used by two unrelated legacies in the DC Universe. During the 19th Century it was used by a series of masked avengers against those who betrayed the confederacy. This put them into conflict with legendary bounty hunter Jonah Hex. This Gray Ghost was created by Michael Fleisher and Tony DeZuniga, first appearing in Jonah Hex #85. (1984)
The DCAU introduced a fictional crime-fighter to the Batman mythos, portrayed on television by Simon Trent. His adventures inspire a young Bruce Wayne, who later pulls the aging actor out of retirement. In mainstream continuity this is the name used by actor Clancy Johnson. Gray Ghost was created by Tom Ruegger and voiced by Adam West, first appearing in Batman: The Animated Series episode "Beware the Gray Ghost" (1992).
