Synopsis for "Bad Reputation!"

The appearance of the Green Lanterns on Earth remains a hot topic, and they hold a press conference. During the meeting, Arisia gets another of her attacks and flies away. John Stewart snaps when the reporters, including Tawny Young, start dubbing the aliens as invaders, and the Green Lanterns leave the scene when an explosion draws their attention to a bank robbery. The thief turns out to be Black Hand, who, equipped with his Cosmic Divining Rod, manages to absorb the energy of the Green Lanterns and use it against them. Black Hand breaks havoc in the city, enough to distract the Green Lanterns while he escapes.

Meanwhile, Hal Jordan is testing a jet at Ferris Aircraft. On the ground, he sees Mr. Smith being uncomfortable by the presence of alien Green Lanterns on the TV. Changing the subject, Smith tells Hal and Tom Kalmaku that they got a new contract to develop a helicopter for a group called "Task Force X."

Elsewhere, on Maltus, Guy Gardner confronts the Honor Guard of Green Lanterns, who see his intentions to abandon the planet and leave Appa Ali Apsa behind. Although brute and hot-headed, Guy's power is not enough to deal with the Honor Guard, who subdues him with their telekinetic powers.

When Hal returns to the Citadel, the Green Lanterns brief him about Black Hand's incident and Arisia's disappearance. Deeming it better to deal with Black Hand one-on-one, Hal takes off to trail the villain. On his way to Coastville, he finds Arisia, who, frightened, admits that she's been having panic attacks since her arrival on Earth. While they talk, Black Hand attacks them with their power. Both Hal and Arisia confront him, and when it looks like the villain was retreating, they lower their guards enough for Black Hand to absorb their remaining energy and toss the powerless Green Lanterns into an underground mine.
