History

The Green Lantern Honor Guard is an elite group of Green Lanterns not restricted to one Sector. They are based on Oa.

The first Honor Guard consisted of Tomar-Re, K'ryssma and Apros.[1]

Years later, after the rebirth of the Corps, Guy was appointed as Honor Guard, serving as a flexible trouble-shooter, aiding any sector in need and has also served in a leadership role during battle.[2] Kyle Rayner was later added to the Honor Guard after he passed on his duties as Ion.[3]

As Protocol Lantern, Salakk was also a member of Honor Guard.[4] He retained his rank even after stepping down as Protocol Lantern.[5]

John Stewart, Soranik Natu, Ganthet, Hannu, Boodikka were promoted to Green Lantern Honor Guard after they freed the Grendians and Alpha Lanterns from Cyborg Superman.[6]

In Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Hal Jordan became a member of Honor Guard after the defeat of Atrocitus; he was partnered with veteran Honor Guard Tomar-Re.[7] Guy Gardner later became a member of Honor Guard, achieving the rank faster than any Green Lantern before him.[8]
