Synopsis for "Crime Goes West"

Alan Scott and Doiby are driving out into the desert to visit a retirement home for old frontiersmen, only to have a pair of thieves switch clothes with them and steal the cab when they stop for gas. The proprietor lends the duo his horse so they can catch up to the crooks, who arrive at the old folks' home and decide to pretend to be Alan and Doiby until they can dig up their loot hidden on the grounds and escape. It doesn't last long as it turns out the staff at the home let the people there continue to practice their old habits, like the gold prospector who digs holes all over the property. Who just then digs up the gold the thieves came to collect. They pull guns on the old frontiersmen and collect their loot. Fortunately Alan and Doiby have found the cab, allowing him to change into his costume and power up his ring. They fly to the home and attack the thieves, but a wildly-thrown knife cuts through the ropes holding up the wooden entrance sign so it falls on Green Lantern and Doiby.

While they're out, the old frontiersmen put together a posse to catch the thieves just like in the old days. Figuring it'd be good for their old spirits, Green Lantern decides to let the old men think they caught the thieves without any help, and uses his ring to disguise himself and Doiby as old timers before joining in the fight. This works, and Alan and Doiby head back to civilization leaving a group of grateful frontiersmen behind.

Synopsis for "The Criminal Nobody Knew"

Three daring robberies rock Gotham City, particularly because they were carried out by very large gangs (two dozen men each easily), and the thieves operated in perfect coordination. The authorities believe a criminal genius must be behind such well-plotted crimes, carried out by so many well-organized crooks. How this "Mr. Big" acquires his talent is discovered when recently released small-time hood Beaver Ben checks up on his old partner in crime Lefty Simmons, who's opened an employment agency since getting out of the big house. This respectable business is only a front, and after it closes for the day, Lefty reveals he makes his real money hiring the talent for Mr. Big's operations.

Looking into the robberies, Green Lantern and Doiby learn the places hit were all owned by the Samson Corporation. Green Lantern barges into the office of the secretive CEO J.B. Samson, and learns that the secret is "he" is actually a woman, who hustles him out just as quickly when Green Lantern wants to know if she might have any enemies (and is sure she's hiding something when she denies it). The emerald crusader strikes when he sees Beaver Ben and an accomplice sneaking into the building, easily mopping up the robbery crew. Mr. Big himself appears, having expected Green Lantern to show up at this job, and knocks the hero out with the blast from an exploding cigarette. Meanwhile, Doiby's driving by Lefty Simmons' employment agency. Hearing the name J.B. Samson demanding to see Simmons, he decides to investigate, only to realize the place is full of criminals who knock the portly cabbie out. Trying to move his cab out of sight, one of the crooks accidentally hits the button that launches its signal rocket, summoning the recovered Green Lantern, only for Lefty to catch the hero sneaking in and clobber him over the head with a wooden club.

The two heroes are put in a giant shooting gallery deathrap, but Mr. Big reappears and demands they not be killed, only for Lefty to tell the other criminals not to listen to Big. The argument gives Green Lantern time to free himself and Doiby. After they capture Lefty and his compatriots, Green Lantern reveals "Mr. Big" is J.B. Samson, who put on the outfit to try to help them. The real Mr. Big was Lefty Simmons, actually her brother Larry, who was the black sheep of the family, and was targeting the Samson Corporation to ruin them. Shortly afterward, Alan Scott gets dressed up for a date with J.B.

Synopsis for "The Harlequin's Leap Year"

Alan Scott and Molly Mayne are attending a wedding, and Alan's the one who catches the bouquet. Right before it releases a cloud of tear gas and thieves try to rob the crowd. He and Molly slip away to change into their fighting outfits. After taking some pummeling, the crooks escape in another cloud of tear gas. Since she has him right there, and it's a leap year, Harlequin exercises her unique situation to be the one to propose marriage to Green Lantern. He refuses, but she bets he'll meet her at City Hall to accept her proposal the following day. Bets on which way this situation will go quickly grip the populace, with the police concentrating their presence on the area to try to finally capture Harlequin.

The mastermind of the wedding party robbers schemes to take advantage of the situation, having her gang rob a gem lab in uptown while the police and Green Lantern will be downtown. However, Harlequin shows up and makes off with loot the mastermind was aiming for, having had the same idea that a minimal police presence uptown meant lots of tempting loot would be easy pickings. Unfortunately for them both, Green Lantern had the same thought too, spots them and gives chase, leading to a car crash that knocks out Green Lantern and Harlequin. The gang boss ties them to decorative unicorns on a large clock tower that will impale the pair when the clock strikes the hour, but it rouses Green Lantern. He brings the statues to life with his power ring to ride down and beat the gangsters insensate. Harlequin ends up in jail, annoyed most of all that Green Lantern didn't take her proposal seriously.
