Synopsis for "The End of a Gladiator!"

Green Lanterns from across the galaxy are called to Oa by the Guardians of the Universe, who reveal that Hal Jordan is dead. Wondering how one of the greatest Green Lanterns could have died, they probe his power ring to learn the truth.

They learn that while out with Pieface, Hal explains that the last fraction of power from his ring is reserved to always act as protection to protect the Green Lantern from any mortal harm. What they were not aware of is that Dr. Polaris had returned with a new costume and a new plan, to capture Green Lantern's friend Pieface.

Hooking Pieface up to a magnetic device that will eventually kill him, Hal tracks down Pieface to Polaris' lab and battles Dr. Polaris. However during the fight, Hal realizes that his power ring is about to run out of energy and has now dropped to the final reserve that protects him. Wishing to save Pieface, Hal uses this last bit of power to preserve Pieface's life before he can die. Battling Polaris, Hal is unprotected from his weapons and takes a fatal blast from the Doctor's magnetic ray.

With the story finished, the other Lanterns mourn the loss of their friend.
