Gunner and his partner Sarge were a team of soldiers that fought side-by-side during World War II, along with their dog Pooch. They would go on to become part of an elite military fighting unit named The Losers, alongside Captain Storm and Johnny Cloud, where they were active in the European theater. He was also involved with the Creature Commandos and Team 7. Gunner was created by Robert Kanigher and Jerry Grandenetti, first appearing in Our Fighting Forces #45. (1959)
