Hal Jordan (Last Family of Krypton)

One day Abin Sur, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, crashed on Earth and was critically injured. Abin Sur's ring chose Hal as his successor, but Abin was found by Jor-El, who healed him and saved his life. As such the ring returned to Abin Sur and Hal did not become Green Lantern.

Years later the Guardians of the Universe used Hal's averted destiny as an example to Jor-El of how his family's presence on Earth had stunted humanity's development.
