Quote1 The true hero is Val-Lor, who sparked our revolt! Quote2
Hatu-El src

Hatu-El was a native of the planet, Krypton, and ancestor of the Earth-based super-heroes known as Superman and Supergirl.

Like many esteemed members of the noble House of El, Hatu-El was a scientist and gained recognition for his contributions in the field of electrical theory. His discoveries paved the way for the invention of the electric motor and the electromagnet. The mineral Hatuar, a combination of Magnesium, Silicon and Oxygen (better known as asbestos) is named after him.[1]

When the Vrangs conquered Krypton, Hatu-El led the revolt that drove the Vrangs off the planet, spurred by the courage of his friend Val-Lor, who openly told the invaders that he despised them and was gunned down by them.[2]

A statue of Hatu-El holding a lightning-bolt was erected and placed within the House of El family memorial vault on the planet Krypton. The statues were blasted away and turned to Kryptonite in the final cataclysm, before being plated with lead by Superboy and transferred to Rokyn.[1]

Powers

Hatu-El possessed no superhuman powers while living under a red sun. Had he existed on a world revolving around a yellow sun, he would have developed physical attributes equitable to that of Superman. Hatu-El was an intuitive thinker and an accomplished inventor.
