Synopsis for "Hawkwoman Caged!"

The mayor of Midway City states his complaints that the blood feud between the Thanagarians had turned the corner of Wacker and Wabash into a war zone. The two Wingmen cared nothing for the safety and well being of the citizens who were in close proximity of the crime scene. Commissioner Emmett assures the public on live TV that US Justice Department has instructed him to handle this case like any another murder case. Shayera Thal will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Katar and Darl get into a heated debate about Shayera being prosecuted for terminating Byth even though he was clearly identified as a murderer on live television when he murdered Charlie Meyerson. Darl argues that by handing over Shayera to the local police, a trial will dredge up any mistrust that Earth has about playing host to the Thanagarians who allowed a dangerous criminal to run rampant on their planet.

Darl tells Katar that Chief Pul wants Officer Hol to report back to Thanagar. Katar also receives word that Mavis Trent is fighting to keep the Thanagarian exhibit open at the Midway City Museum. The museum board led by Dr. Konrad Kazlak wants to close the exhibit because the US government is threatening to pull their funding as long as the exhibit remains open. Katar makes the trip back to Thanagar and contemplates why Byth would goad Shayera into killing him by murdering Officer Jones. Katar then figures it out and tells the High Command that he is heading back to Earth. The High Mor tells Katar that if he disobeys a direct order then he will be charged with treason. Katar ignores the High Mor's threat and heads back to Earth. The High Mor tells Darl about Katar going AWOL and Darl gives the US president his permission to shoot down Katar's scout ship.

As for Shayera, Grant Pauley and the Thanagarian PR representative Joseph Tracy discuss their next plan of action before Shayera goes to court. Pauley informs Shayera that Katar is heading back to their location with the presumed plan to rescue her from custody. Shayera feels touched by Katar's uncharacteristic heroism. Katar manged to avoid a few jets that were locked on his coordinates but he ultimately takes cover by diving into Lake Michigan. Katar then makes his way to the home of Andrea Lencioni, Officer Jones' former partner. Katar asks for her help in finding Byth and freeing Shayera. Katar tells Andrea that Byth wanted to cause friction between Shayera and him so that one would kill the other in the interests of diplomacy or vengeance.

Meanwhile, Byth's body has disappeared from the coroner's office. Byth is suffering from a withdrawal at Comiskey Park and tells Jarl to get him more Krotan which has been placed in the evidence lock up at Emmett's precinct. Jarl manages to get a few Krotan pills from lock up thanks to Darl. Katar and Andrea follow Jarl back to Comiskey Park. If they can prove that Byth is still alive then the charges against Shayera would be dropped. Jarl returns and finds Byth becoming an amorphous blob because he can no longer hold himself together without Krotan. Katar and Andrea make their presence known to the criminals. Byth gathers the remainder of his strength to attack Katar while Andrea deals with Jarl. Jarl tries to pull a gun on her but Andrea shoots Jarl dead. Katar uses his tranquilizer gun to shoot tranquilizing darts of Krotan. Byth starts to maintain his physical form but begins to feel fatigued. Katar uses a series of aerial punches to knock Byth out cold.

Darl informs Katar that the high council has forgiven him for his insubordination since his capture of Byth has restored interplanetary relations and with Byth alive in custody, the charge of murder toward Shayera have been dropped. Katar confesses to Shayera that he has been arrogant and foolish for not admitting that he too has strong feelings for her. Both Katar and Shayera enter into a loving embrace. The two of them decide to avoid the media appraisal outside the precinct and fly out the window.
