Henry Cobblepot was an ancestor of the Penguin.

Henry Cobblepot was a magnate who tried to negotiate with Cyrus Pinkney and Solomon Wayne, but they discovered that he intended to build over the original Gotham City that they had built, wishing to secure Gotham's financials.

A few years later, Pinkney had to negotiate with Cobblepot to finish his and Wayne's work. Cobblepot seemingly forgave him and told Pinkney that he owed him nothing.

Eventually, Cobblepot came to collect on his debt, intending to build a munitions factory in the city, but Pinkney begged the mayor to ban the endeavor, which he agreed.

Hellbent on getting revenge, Cobblepot attempted to poison Cyrus with tainted wine at Pinkney's 40th birthday party. Unbeknownst to Henry, Cyrus had replaced the wine with a substance created by Amadeus Arkham, which helped him fake his death. Later, Cobblepot died in a "car accident" orchestrated by Pinkney.[1]
