Synopsis for "The Curse of the Cat"
A blind old drunk accosts a man outside of a bar with a strange tale of a treasure if the man will buy him a drink. The man agrees and the drunk tells him that he used to work for a wealthy man who made his fortune by holding investment consultations with his cat. After the cat dies, the man takes his employee out to a grave site in order to bury the cat and two bags of gold as his share. That's why the drunk needs a partner to retrieve the gold. He has directions to the cat's grave but can't see. The stranger tells the man his story is absurd and gets up to leave but the drunk accuses him of going out there to steal his treasure. Sure enough, the stranger follows the drunk's directions and digs up the grave for the sacks of gold, but as he accomplishes this he is set upon by dozens of cats. He manages to make it back to the bar and dumps the contents of the sack, but it contains only sand. His experience has aged him prematurely and turned his hair white and he has now replaced the previous drunk attempting to regale bar patrons with a tale about a treasure.
