Synopsis for "The Eyes of the Basilisk!"

A basilisk menaces the valley so the king issues a proclamation that whoever can slay the basilisk will marry the princess and inherit the kingdom. Two brothers attempt to slay the creature, but the first brother to try fails even though he has polished his shield to be able to look solely at the creature's reflection. The second brother vows to avenge his brother even though he is armed only with a mirror. The basilisk hisses in frustration as the second brother stands before its gaze unharmed. The man lifts the mirror, and the reflected power strikes it dead. At the king's castle he receives a hero's welcome and he reveals to the king that the beast could not use its gaze to slay him because he is blind.
