Synopsis for "The Caretakers"
This story fills the reader in on how the House of Mystery came to appear as a bar since Harry was the first occupant after the house was stolen from Cain. Abel falls down the chimney with Goldie and tells Harry that he's on a mission to gather the nightmares from the House of Mystery. The two work together to collect the nightmares in a bundt pan secured with duct tape, but not before Abel is gruesomely killed several times and resurrects himself. The only one left is the Bete Noir in the basement and Abel says since it isn't on his list, he doesn't need to collect it. Harry follows him out of the basement, figuring that a guy who can resurrect himself is terrified of this thing, he'd best avoid it. Abel offers to drop Harry off in the Dreaming, but finds that he cannot, so he tells Harry that he'll send some people his way.
