Synopsis for "Buried Treasure"

An old man wants to divide his wealth among his three remaining heirs, but they are greedy so he tells them to go away for a month and then return. After the month passes, the three return and he tells them that he has hidden his fortune on the premiss as a treasure hunt and the one who finds it will possess all. One of the men is willing to kill for it, and so he murders his two brothers and threatens the life of the old man if he does not divulge the treasure's location. The old man's servant steps out from behind a curtain to defend him, and in the scuffle, the murderer falls upon his own weapon and dies against the bronze-painted coffin that the elderly man prepared for his impending death. The wealthy man tearfully confesses to his servant when he had his boy buried in the coffin, that during the month the men were away, that is where he hid his wealth, a solid gold coffin beneath a coat of bronze paint.

Synopsis for "Last Voyage of the Lady Luck"

A boy goes to live with his uncle who has purchased an old ship with the intent of making insurance money when it sinks. The boy meets a strange old man at the dock who gives him a toy somewhat like a rocking horse in the shape of a ship which can be steered and tells him it's magic. The boy rides his toy intently and the uncle's ship returns much faster than it otherwise could. The uncle is pleased but spends all the profit and demands the boy continue his magic. The boy isn't sure he can and the uncle threatens to send him to an orphanage if he doesn't perform. The boy expires in the attempt and the doctor tells the uncle that the boy drowned in his room.
