This story is reprinted from The Flash #306.

A terrible vision from the Crystal Orb of Nabu warns Doctor Fate of an incoming threat and he goes to the Boston Museum of Natural History, where some cultist have performed the sacred ritual to bring the powerful Lords of Chaos known as Totec.

In the meantime, Inza Nelson is alone at the Tower of Fate, pondering her current situation with the man she loves. Inza recalls the events that caused Kent Nelson to meet Nabu, the Lord of Order when he was just a child and he was trained in the powerful mystic arts until he reached adulthood and was bestowed the powers of Nabu in the form of the sacred items, the Helmet of Fate and the Amulet of Anubis. Inza's memory jumps forwards to the most recent event, where she discussed with Kent for the divergence that the presence of Doctor Fate was causing in their lives. Just a few moments prior to the grim warning by the Crystal Orb, Nelson told Inza that her need for attention is just as important as his quest as Fate and if she can't undertand that, then they might not have a future together.

After remembering, Inza decides to seek Nelson and try to help him, but unknown to her, Doctor Fate is currently in the middle of a fight against Totec. Their powers are even matched and the fight seems to get nowhere until Inza breaks into the place and Fate becomes distracted by her presence. Totec notices the distraction and uses it to his advantage by grabbing Inza and using her against Fate. Unable to use his magic out of fear of harming Inza, Fate is defeated and Totec captures them both before he starts the final summonning that will cause the fifth massive extintion event on Earth.

This story is reprinted from The Flash #307.

Doctor Fate and Inza Kent have been trapped by the Lord of Chaos known as Malferrazae, who has existed under the identity of the ancient Aztec God of destruction Totec. With both Inza and Fate under his control, Totec travels to Mexico City, to rebuild the ancient city of Tenochtitlan and recover the lost temple source of his power.

With his powers renewed, Totec sends Doctor Fate to another dimension, where all his former cultists and worshippers have survived in the form of undead beings. Totec recalls that he lost his powers after the Spanish conquest of Mexico, which eliminated most of his worshippers, eliminating his source of power. Now that he has been released, Totec plans to set the "Fifth Sun" in motion, which will bring the destruction of mankind and the fifth massive extintion in the history of Earth.

Meanwhile, Doctor Fate has managed to overcome the undead army and Totec notices that Fate grows weaker with every effort he makes to eliminate them. In order to give the final blow, Totec uses his powers to use the jealousy he has sensed in Inza towards Fate and transforms the human feeling into a powerful monster which he sends to fight against Fate, hoping to eliminate the only challenger standing in his way to achieve his goal of massive destruction. The jealousy monster attacks Fate, but the powerful Lord of Order is unable to destroy it without killing Inza in the process.

The Lord of Chaos Malferrazae has sent the jealousy creature born from Inza Nelson to defeat Doctor Fate. Confident of his victory, Malferrazae starts to drain away the life out of Inza while Fate fights the monster.

The struggle takes Fate and the jealousy monster across the West Coast of the US and they wreack havoc through their path. Eventually, Fate gets the upper hand in the fight and his powers could destroy the creature, but he senses something familiar coming from the thing. Fate suspects that the monster has a strange connection to Inza and to make sure, he summons the Orb of Nabu for the insight required to unravel the mystery.

Using his magic, Fate learns the truth behind the mysterious connection between the monster and Inza. Knowing that the destruction of one would result in the other's death, Fate uses his powers to rescue Inza from Malferrazae's grip. Unfortunately, Fate is fully focused on retrieving Inza and doesn't notice the monster sneaking up behind him and removing the Helmet of Fate, just as Inza is dragged towards him.
