Story
When the Joker destroys Metropolis and tricks Superman into killing a pregnant Lois Lane, the Man of Steel becomes convinced that he has held back, and needs to save the world from itself. As Superman begins to grow mad with power, Batman incites a rebellion against this new regime. As battle lines are drawn, the allies, and enemies, of the two heroes must decide where they stand.

Notes
- This game is being developed by NetherRealm Studios, the same group of people who, while a part of the now-defunct Midway Games, made Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. The game will be given away for free to anyone who pre-orders Injustice: Gods Among Us from Wal-Mart. [citation needed]
- Costume designs have been updated to their DCnU appearances. New 52 skins will be released for Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. [citation needed]
- Costumes based on Superman: Red Son will be provided for Superman, Wonder Woman, and Solomon Grundy as part of the Pre-Order bonus from GameStop.
- Costumes based on Batman: Arkham City for Batman, Catwoman, and the Joker as part of a Pre-Order bonus from Wal-Mart.
- A costume based on the Blackest Night storyline for Batman is part of the Pre-Order bonus from Best Buy.
- A costume based on Stephen Amell's character from Arrow for Green Arrow will be released as part of the Injustice Battle Arena promotional event.
