Synopsis for "Lovers and Enemies"

Ion is shocked to find his former lover, Donna Troy, present aboard the asteroid station. One of the surviving Weaponers opens fire on them, but Kyle and Donna easily deflect his blasts and take him down. Donna tries to interrogate him, but soon discovers that the one responsible for all of this carnage is still present on the station – Grayven. It has been years since Kyle has been forced to confront the son of Darkseid, but now suspects that Grayven is responsible for all of the trouble that Ion has suffered of late. He even hints that he may be responsible for Maura Rayner's current debilitative condition.

Ion and Grayven engage in a battle that nearly tears the asteroid apart. Donna Troy proves equally formidable and batters Grayven with huge chunks of debris. Ion continues to hammer away at Grayven, and he slowly realizes that his foe is not the true puppet master of this entire affair. Somebody else is pulling the strings, and he begins to realize that all of the strange events that he has experienced in recent weeks are all inter-connected. As Ion prepares to unleash a massive attack against Grayven, he receives an emergency signal from Guy Gardner. The message breaks up before he can hear the everything, but he knows that it relates to his mother.

Back on Earth, Guy, along with Kilowog and Soranik Natu have arrived in California in the hopes of saving Maura Rayner's life. Even with the advanced technology of a Green Lantern Ring, Soranik is not optimistic. She cannot explain what is wrong with Maura, and fears that she will soon die.

Meanwhile, the Monitors grow even more concerned over events pertaining to Kyle Rayner.
